Csapatunk játékosai a Meshkov Breszt elleni BL-mérkőzést követően a szigorú egészségügyi protokollunknak megfelelően PCR-teszten vettek részt. A tesztek eredménye alapján három újabb, az utazáson részt vevő játékosunk fertőződött meg Covid-19 vírussal.

Bár a Breszt csapatában már a mérkőzés előtt három nappal pozitív lett az egyik játékosuk  koronavírus-tesztje, klubunkkal példátlan és elfogadhatatlan módon, csak a meccs előtti este, az edzésünk közben, email-ben közölték ezt a tényt. Ezt követően azonnal felvettük a kapcsolatot az Európai Kézilabda Szövetséggel (EHF), és jeleztük, hogy számunkra kockázatos lenne a csütörtök esti pályára lépés, mert ilyen esetben nagyon sokszor előfordul, hogy nem csak egy fertőzött van egy csapaton belül.

Bár a szövetség által biztosított gyorstesztek nem érkeztek meg, a Brestnek a mérkőzés napján tesztelnie kellett – az egyik kapusuk ekkor már lázasan feküdt otthon -, mi újból jeleztük az EHF felé hogy a meccs lejátszása esetén nagy a fertőzés kockázata, ami klubunk játékosait és stábtagjait komoly egészségügyi veszélynek teheti ki, nem beszélve a Flensburg elleni meccs bizonytalanná válásáról.   
Délután, 17 óra után, nem egészen két órával a mérkőzés kezdete előtt jött a hivatalos értesítés klubunk részére, hogy a Meskovnál mindenki eredménye negatív lett, így mindenképpen játszanunk kell.

Hazatérésünk után, az október 23-i ünnep miatt csak hétfőn tudtuk tesztelni a csapatunkat, ekkor derült ki, hogy újabb három kézilabdázónk fertőződött meg. Ezen a napon a Breszt is bejelentette, hogy több játékosa is elkapta a koronavírust.

Számunkra mindig az egészség a legfontosabb, ezt tartjuk szem előtt, így a Bresztben történt események elfogadhatatlanok, ha szükséges, megvizsgáljuk a jogi lépéseket és várjuk, hogy az EHF milyen döntést hoz a fejlemények ismeretében az ügyben.

STATEMENT RELATING TO THE EVENTS IN BREST

Following our Champions League match against HC Meshkov Brest last week, three more players from our team tested positive for the COVID-19 virus on Monday.

The players of our team underwent a PCR test following our Champions League match against HC Meshkov Brest, in line with our strict medical protocol. Based on the results, three more of our players, who were all members of our traveling delegation to Brest, became infected with the Covid-19 virus.

Although one of the players of the team of HC Meshkov Brest already had a positive coronavirus test three days prior to our match, our opponent only reported this fact to our club - in an unprecedented and unacceptable manner - the night before the game, during our training already in Brest, by email. We immediately contacted the European Handball Federation (EHF) and indicated that we considered it would be too risky for us to play on Thursday night because in such circumstances it is very often the case that there is not just one infected person within a team.

Although the “quick tests” provided by the EHF did not arrive in time, Brest had to ensure testing of their players would take place on the day of the match - one of their players was already feverish at home at the time. We again signaled to the EHF that there was a high risk of infection if we were to play the match, which would threaten the good health of the players and staff of our team, not to mention the uncertainty it would create for our upcoming match against Flensburg.

In the afternoon, after 5pm locally, less than two hours before the start of the match, the official announcement came that everyone at Meshkov Brest had a negative test result, hence putting us in a position where we definitely had to play.

After returning home, we were only able to test our team on Monday, due to the National Holidays of the 23rd of October. At that time, it turned out that three more of our players had become infected. On that day, Brest also announced that several new players had caught the coronavirus.

For us, health is always the most important aspect to consider, which we strive to keep in mind at all times, so the events in Brest are unacceptable in our view. If necessary, we will examine the conceivable legal steps and, in any case, we wait for the decision of the EHF in the light of developments in this matter.
